New Resolutions

Hace ya un tiempo que parece que tenemos este blog abandonado...en realidad no teníamos tiempo a nada! pero a partir de ahora vamos a dedicarle el tiempo que se merece!

It’s a long time since we dont update our blog…we have been really busy! But we are now decided to spend time on it, as it deserves!

Estamos empezando a trabajar en una nueva colección, por lo que a partir de ahora compartiremos nuestros avances, para que veáis como es trabajar en una nueva colección, como van surgiendo nuevas piezas, nuevas ideas...y sobretodo muchas fotos!! y dibujos!!

We are now beginning to work on a new collection, so from now on we will share our progress with you, so you can see how we work on a new collection, how new ideas develop and mostly see new pictures and drawings!!

♥♥♥♥ Los egipcios ya decían en sus escritos sobre las alianzas de boda que un circulo permanente de amor afecta a la vida y más allá de ella , una expresión cargada de simbolismo...♥♥♥♥

♥♥♥♥Egyptians already wrote in their ancient scripts about wedding rings, and how a love permanent circle affects life and the afterlife…an expression full of symbolism...♥♥♥♥

Por esto mismo cuando una pareja nos dice que quiere seamos nosotros los que nos encarguemos de sus alianzas se pone en marcha toda la ilusión y el buen hacer de nuestro oficio.

This is why when a couple asks us to do their wedding rings, we look forward to the task with our best wishes

En este caso las alianzas debían tener armonía entre ellas pues ella quería algo especial, diferente , y el algo sencillo.

así que nos pusimos a trabajar!

In this case, rings had to be related but not equal, since she wanted something special and he wanted something simple, so we started working!

Primero, preparar el metal, en este caso oro blanco

una vez que tenemos todo organizado, grosores, medidas y demás formatos, llega la construcción del anillo.

Como la alianza de ella lleva Diamantes talla brillante, hay que dejar preparado donde los vamos a engastar

Siempre que se engastan piedras, por el lado inferior se dejan las " bocas"o abierto de luces, para que a la piedra le entre la mayor cantidad posible de luz y así se pueda ver todo su esplendor

la cabeza del anillo lleva cuadradillo,( una primer piso donde irá soldada la parte superior donde van engastadas las piedras) para que entre las dos partes entre luz, y tenga altura acorde a distintas distancias entre el plano del dedo y las piedras

The ring is got a first floor where the stones will be set so that the correct distance between the finger and the stones is set

y le vamos añadiendo las piezas finales

Soldamos todo con distintos tipos de soldadura de la más fuerte a la más blanda

Everything is then welded with the different welding types

y nos ponemos de nuevo con la alianza del chico,media caña hecha a mano y laterales biselados

and we move on to the groom’s ring

Es hora de engastar los brillantes

Now its time to set the diamonds

Se le ha añadido un pequeño engaste isabelino a los laterales para darle una decoración menos cuadrada

A small Isabelina setting is added so that the shape is less squared

Poco a poco, se engastan y limpian los tacos o granos de metal que rodean las piedras, con mucha paciencia, hasta que los brillantes estén perfecta mente engastados

y ya solo quedaría pulir y rodiar las dos alianzas para que queden más protegidas.

Slowly, the metal is cleaned so that the diamonds are perfectly set…and now only the last polishing bit is left for both pieces to be ready

Una vez terminadas, solo esperamos que los novios las disfruten y sean muuuuy felices con ellas :)

Once the wedding rings are finished, we just hope the bride and the groom enjoy them and that they are very happy with them :)

El anillo de la esmeralda

Hace unos días recibimos una llamada, querían un anillo muy especial para un regalo de cumpleaños, así que nos pusimos manos a la obra.

Tras varios emails para decidir el diseño, tipo de Gema , color y talla,... empezamos la fabricación!

Some days ago we had a phone call; someone wanted a very special ring for a birthday present, so we started working…

After a few emails, regarding design, gem, colour, size…we started with the process!

A partir de un lingote de plata estiramos el metal, dejando el anillo al ancho, grueso y a la medida deseada del dedo.
From a silver bar, we worked the metal, leaving the ring with the right width, thickness and with the right finger size.

Soldamos el anillo
The ring was then welded

Lo lijamos hasta dejarlo bien planito y redondo.
And we then sanded it to give it the round and flat shape

A partir de otra sección de plata , preparamos el metal para hacer la boquilla donde irá la piedra sujeta.
From another silver section, we prepared the metal in order to make the stone holder

Redondeamos el metal, a la medida de la piedra para su posterior engaste
The metal was then rounded, with the right stone size

Soldamos con una soldadura más blantida que la anterior para que la otra quede intacta al recibir el calor.

We then welded it, taking care not to damage the other welding

and we rounded it off

Se suelda la boquilla en la parte central ya ajustada
The stone holder is welded to the central part

Una vez conseguidas las dos partes del anillo...
And, once both ring parts are made...

Se repasan las soldaduras y se talla la boquilla
Weldings are checked and the mouth holder is sculpted

Se va lijando con distintos grosores de lija para luego ser pulida sin problemas

The piece is sanded so that it can be polished

hacemos el diseño a la boquilla con pequeñas limas hasta conseguir la forma deseada
we do the stone holder design with small files until we get the right shape

Y ahora si, procedemos a engastar la piedra, que en este caso es una esmeralda.

And now, the stone is finally set, in this case, an emerald

Como siempre al finalizar, le ponemos nuestro sello de fabricantes

And, the usual final part: our Jöelle stamp

Sortija de Azabache

Una sortija que no debe faltar en el joyero y más si tienes raíces Asturianas.

A ring that should be present in your jewellery box, even more if you have Asturian roots.

Se prepara el metal en este caso Oro de 750mm , previamente se ha calculado el peso y realizado un presupuesto de los materiales.

First, we prepared the metal, in this case 750mm Gold, previously we had calculated the weight and made an estimate of materials required

Azabache y una montura en Navette.

Laminación Manual del metal a través de cilindros y distintas secciones.

Manual metal rolling metal through different cylinders and through different sections.

Una vez todo estirado, se ajusta la piedra a la boquilla , llevaremos el brazo de la sortija al número deseado y se pasa a soldar todas las partes.

Once everything is drawn, the stone is set into the tip, the arm of the ring is made to the desired number and all parts are welded.

Nos ayudamos de unas pinzas de presión para evitar movimientos innecesarios Pressure pliers pressure helps avoiding unnecessary movements

Previamente repasadas las imperfecciones de la soldadura , lijamos con distintos granos para que luego aparezca ese brillo espejo que tanto deslumbra y gusta en los objetos nuevos e impolutos.

After going through all the welding imperfections, the piece is polished so that it looks shiny and new.

Se ajusta y se engasta procurando no tocar la piedra, esta variedad de lignito es muy sensible y hay que poner el máximo cuidado de no marcarla, el manejo del cincel es sumamente importante.

This variety of brown coal is very sensitive and we must take the utmost care not to mark it, the handling of the chisel is extremely important.

Una vez finalizada y pulida , contrastamos con nuestro punzón de fabricante, lo que indicará sobre el objeto realizado, que sale de un taller especializado cumpliendo todas las normas que la ley exige, también añadiendo el contraste del laboratorio de 750mm cuya constancia certifica, la pureza y el registro de calidad.

Es muy importante que las piezas estén firmadas y contrastadas , esto da constancia de que hay un comercio justo, una empresa que hace profesional y artesanalmente que el producto adquirido sea de calidad y sobretodo legal.

Once polished, the piece is contrasted with our punch manufacturer, which indicate that the object made, meets all the standards required by law, the contrast of the permanence 750mm lab certifies purity and recording quality.

It is very important that the pieces are signed and contrasted, it gives evidence that there is a fair trade, that the company is professional and that the product purchased is of high quality and above all, legal.

Sobre el Azabache y su rareza carbonifera (Lignitica)

El mejor azabache del mundo, junto con el de Whitby, es el de Asturias, España. Con un color negro intenso, textura y dureza incomparable, es extraído en la zona denominada la Marina, en la Costa Jurásica Asturiana, entre Gijón y Ribadesella, en la zona de Oles, Villaviciosa, desde donde hace más de cien años se exporta a Inglaterra. Ha sido el Principado el mayor suministrador de la península de material en bruto a lo largo de los siglos. Recientes estudios llevados a cabo por un equipo de investigación de la Universidad de Oviedo demuestran que el azabache español procede de una familia de árboles jurásicos, extinguida hace 65 millones de años, las protopináceas, además de las araucarias.

The best jet in the world, together with that of Whitby, is the Asturias (Spain) jet. With a deep black color, texture and incomparable hardness, it is extracted in the area called the Marina in the Asturian Jurassic Coast between Gijón and Ribadesella in the area of Oles, Villaviciosa, where jet has been exported more than England since many years ago. Asturias has been the largest spanish upplier of this special material over the centuries. Recent studies carried out by a research team from the University of Oviedo demonstrate that the spanish jet comes from a family of Jurassic trees extinct 65 million years ago.

Hablando de broches, los hay de mil maneras, formas y colores , nunca pierden su elegancia con el tiempo y siempre dan un toque muy personal.

Talking about brooches, there are a lot, with different shapes and colours, which never lose its elegance and give a very personal touch

Su construcción empieza con la piedra, que nos dará la proporción y la forma en la que se adaptará el metal, un topacio azul será el centro de esta flor donde las texturas y el calado enriquecen este sencillo diseño.

Its construccion begin with the precious stone, which will give us the proportion and shape for the metal, in this case, a blue topaz will be the centre of the flower where different textures and shapes enrich this simple design

Se conforman los pétalos y se sueldan, dejando el espacio ajustado para la boquilla

Petals are then welded, leaving the exact space needed for the stone holder

Y una vez montadas ambas piezas, se les añade los sistemas para el broche, se le da el acabado y por último se engasta.

And, once the pieces are assembled, the brooch closing is added, the stone is mounted and the piece is polished and finished

The spinning ring

El anillo que rueda, anillo anti estrés...este anillo es un modelo muy antiguo que ya apenas se fabrica a mano, sino mecanizado, lo que quiere decir que en su fabricación se le hace o incorpora sistemas internos variados para que giren los anillos centrales.

The spinning ring, or the anti-stress ring…is an antique model which is now mostly mechanised, not handmade, the ring has got inside systems which allow the central parts of the ring to move

Lo increíble de este anillo es que en su construcción manual nada tiene que envidiar a piezas de elaborada construcción, pese a su simpleza, llegar a que se produzca el giro perfecto como si de una construcción mecánica se tratase es sumamente difícil.

The most amazing thing about this ring is that even its apparent simplicity it is very difficult to get the different parts of the ring moving.

primero llevamos el anillo a la medida y soldamos con una soldadura fuerte

First, we made the right size ring, welding both parts


Limado y Lijado then we polish and scrape

Se realizan las demás piezas, el anillo central que va a girar, las tapas de los laterales que iran ajustadas a la perfección y soldadas
Then the rest of the pieces are made, the central ring and the laterals which will also be welded

Lo más importante de este trabajo es tener todo muy bien preparado, lijado y ajustado, para que no se nos case , ( cuando se calienta demasiado las soldaduras fluyen y pueden alcanzar partes que no queremos) si así fuese perderíamos todo el trabajo por lijar mal una soldadura o haberla utilizado en abundancia.

The most important thing about this process is to have everything ready and polished so that we don’t have any problems with the welding

And, after all this work, here you have the spinning rings!

Toda empresita que se precie tiene que tener una máxima de reciclaje continuo, eso quiere decir que pese a que nos parezca en ocasiones un gasto de más, es, todo lo contrario.

Every company, even little like ours, should make the most of any chance to learn, this means that even if sometimes we think of it as another cost, it is the opposite most of the times.

Hay que mentalizarse, la excusa para el bolsillo es aprovechar.

Un viaje de trabajo y ( pequeños placeres) es para desconectar de lo que hay, y para conectar con lo nuevo, por eso las ferias son muy importantes, sea para ver nuevas tendencias como para encontrar proveedores y demás curiosidades.

That is the excuse for the wallet. A work trip (with some little pleasures as well) is great to disconnect from your daily life and connect with the new things happening around us, that is why fairs are very important, either to get familiar with the new trends, find new suppliers or learn about new projects and curiosities.

Comenzamos haciendo la visita de turno a la torre y pasamos enseguida a buscar después de horas y horas de frío y paseo ,la plaza Vendôme, uno de los mejores escaparates de joyería.

We started with the essential visit to the Tower and then, right after that time for Place Vendome, the best jewellery showcase, which we only found after hours of walking and cold!

En cuanto a la feria podemos decir que fue gratificante, ideas apuntadas, garabatos, pocas fotos por las prisas de verlo todo "y la vergüenza que siempre nos acompaña".

With regards to the fair, it was rewarding, annotated ideas, little drawings, just a few pictures because of us wanting to see everything and our usual embarrassment…suppliers we’ll visit again but overall new ideas for this year.

Después y si no hay mucha gente merece la pena pasar por el Louvre,(cada cierto tiempo una zona, pues es imposible verlo todo)

También pudimos disfrutar de una colección impresionante de la época antigua, de los Etruscos, los que mejor perfeccionaron las técnicas de filigrana y granulado que hoy en día ,se pueden ver practicandose en talleres de zonas como, en España, Salamanca ( la joyería charra) o en Grecia (la filigrana en mosaico)

We were also able to enjoy a great collection of the Etruscan, the best at the filigree and granular technique that even now, one can see in Spanish workshops, Salamanca (charra jewellery) or in Greece (mosaic filigree)

Diseño y joyas en la Laboral

Design and jewels in La Laboral, Asturias

Nos despedíamos del año con una ultima feria de Creadores y nuevos diseñadores, todo esto en la laboral (LAB centro de Arte) de Gijón, cuyo espacio para la exposición y el centro en sí es todo un Planteamiento de la arquitectura y el diseño.

We said good bye to 2010 with this young designer’s event which took place in La Laboral, in Gijón, an exhibition room which is itself an architecture and design statement.

El centro es auténtico espacio y luz, tiene los detalles que te gustan saborear en sitios donde ha intervenido la ergonomia , los buenos conceptos de la sencillez y el purismo en las geometrias.
The centre has a great light design, with a lot of details where one can appreciate the work carried out around ergonomics, simplicity and pure geometry design.

En todo este lio de gente nos ubicaron donde indicamos en la foto, y pese a lo repentino del montaje y la sencilla exposición que pudimos ofrecer, hicimos una feria estupenda!

We were placed where you can see in the picture and even given the quick set up and the simple exposition we made, it was great being there!

Este evento tiene mucha expectación, es increible pues no hay muchos medios para ir y entraba mucha gente, así que pensamos que es el resultado perfecto.

This event has a lot of expectation, amazing given the not so good access, and a lot of people came, a perfect result.

Pudimos disfrutar rodeados de muchos creadores y amenizar la estancia del fin de semana entre nosotros.

Being surrounded with so many creative people and sharing the weekend with them made the experience even more enjoyable.

Viene siendo habitual para nosotros querer enseñaros pequeños detalles de nuestro trabajo, así que sobre la marcha vamos a mostraros el proceso y las imágenes de las piezas al finalizar.

It is has now become common for us to show you little details of our work, we are now going to show you the images of a finished piece.

Se puede leer Jöelle detrás de la piedra! y es que está detrás en el metal, hemos conseguido jugar con la transparencia de la piedra ya que está un poquito separada del brazo del anillo para que entre la luz por debajo!
You can actually read “Jöelle” behind the amethyst! It is written in the silver part behind; we have been able to play with the amethyst transparency since it is separated from the ring arm!

No teníamos mucho tiempo para ello, ya que realizar las fotos nosotros mismos (fotos bonitas de la pieza con distintas vistas) nos implica tiempo y esfuerzo extra, pero ya que hemos tenido que aprender a hacer de todo

We didn’t have a lot of time for all this, taking pictures of the jewels from different angles takes a lot of time and effort, but we have slowly had to learn to do everything by ourselves.

y hacerlo todo (es lo que tiene la pequeña empresa), al final es un placer realizarlas, coger la cámara mantener las joyas bien limpias y esquivar los reflejos que tanta lata dan para buscar fotos que tengan un encanto para vuestros ojos.

Doing everything by yourself is part of running your small business. At the end taking photographs of the different pieces is also a pleasure, in order to make our jewels look especially pretty, pieces must be kept completely clean and one must be very careful with the reflected light.

Este fin de semana hemos tenido la suerte de poder asistir a una boda...especial, con sorpresas desde el primer momento...

This weekend we have been in a very special wedding…full of surprises from the very first moment

y lo mejor fue que nos dejaron participar en ella, desde la fabricación de las alianzas, hasta los detalles para las chicas...

The best thing was that we could participate in the wedding; we made both the wedding rings and the wedding gifts for the girls….

Querían algo bonito, elegante, que encajase para varias edades, al final escogimos una pulsera de perlas naturales...( la rareza de estas perlas llamadas blister, son el color según incide la luz crea en el oriente distintas iridiaciones de colores predominando tonos fríos en las gamas de gris oscuro, y azulado)

They wanted something pretty, elegant, which everyone could enjoy…and at the end we chose a bracelet made of natural pearls… (Pearls with a special characteristic, its colour changes depending on the light they reflect and vary from blue to grey colours)

Una vez que escogido esto, lo siguiente fue el packaging...

Once the gift was decided, we had to made the packaging…

Las bolsitas artesanales quedaron preciosas, la verdad que por las sonrisas que vimos a medida que iban abriendo las bolsitas...parece que gustaron y mucho! no podemos pedir más!

The handmade little bags looked really good and given the smiles we saw when the gifts were received...it seemed that everyone liked them quite a lot! We couldn’t ask for more!

Ya sabéis...si os vais a casar y os gustaría algo así...escribirnos!!

¡Jöelle joyas acaba de cumplir su primer año!
Ha pasado muy rápido, casi sin darnos cuenta pero ahora que miramos hacia atrás vemos muchos proyectos realizados.
Hemos podido conocer a muchas personas que valoran nuestro tiempo y dedicación , realizar muchos trabajos, y nuestros propios diseños que en definitiva son nuestra pasión.

Cada Invierno según va apareciendo el frío, la tranquilidad del trabajo y el calor de las herramientas son a diario buenos compañeros.

Every winter, when the cold weather appears, being inside working is sometimes the best companion.

Os enseñamos en esta ocasión otro proceso.

In this occasion we will show you another making process.

Anillo de plata, con garras o patas para una perla tipo "chocolat".

Ring with “claws” or “clutches” for a pearl of the “chocolat” kind.

La sortija está formada por: un brazo y la cabeza, en este caso una garras donde va a ir sujeta la perla.

The ring is made up of an arm and a head, in this case the “claws” which will hold the pearl.

Una vez a la medida deseada, se suelda y se construye la garra.

Once the measure is right, the piece is welded and the “claws” are made

ajustamos las garras al brazo del anillo y soldamos.

Once we have got both things, the “claws” are tightened to the ring’s arm and welded.

Cada pieza lleva incorporada el sello de calidad y el nombre de nuestra pequeña empresa.

Every piece has got a quality stamp and the name of our little company.

y así se hace este diseño , caracteristico por su sencillez !

Dentro de muy poco hará un año desde que abrimos las puertas de Jöelle y lo queremos celebrar con vosotras/os, pondremos más procesos interesantes, podéis incluso hacer alguna petición y ver el proceso de vuestros propios diseños, además estamos preparando un pequeño sorteo, estar atentas/os!!

De excursión...

Day trip...

Nos hemos puesto de tarea que en cuanto tengamos un rato libre nos vamos a pasear, ver exposiciones, conocer nuevos sitios... nada de quedarse parado!

Así que este domingo así lo hicimos, nos fuimos a ver una exposición a Gijón!

La indumentaria femenina en la colección del Muséu del Pueblu d ´Asturies (1875-1975)

De camino nos metimos por el Parque Isabel la católica y descubrimos que era el paraíso de los patos, cisnes...así que nos quedamos un poco disfrutando de ellos!!

We have decided that every time we have some spare time we are going to go for a walk, go to exhibitions, discover new places…anything but doing nothing!

So this last Sunday that’s what we did, we went to see an exhibition to Gijon!

And in our way to the exhibition we went to the Parque Isabel La Católica and found out that there were a lot of swans, ducks…so we stayed there for a while enjoying the views!!

Al rato cada uno ya estaba en su sitio, preparándose para una buena siesta!

In a short while they were all ready to have a good nap!

Nosotros decidimos seguir nuestro camino a la exposición, Desfilando la moda, la verdad que el sitio no lo conocíamos y nos gustó, pasamos una tarde genial viendo mil cosas típicas de las casas asturianas, la evolución del pueblo en el trabajo la calle, en casa , y en las ideas.

So we decided to keep walking towards the exhibition. We didn’t know the place and we really liked it, we had a great time learning a lot of things about Asturian houses, the evolution of labour and ideas

Sin duda esta belleza es una reliquia de la exposición .
Without any doubt, this is one of the best things of the exhibition...

la decoración es manual, con motivos orgánicos y egipcios, un mueble con sus cajones, del año 1900.

The decoration is handmade, with organic and Egyptian motifs, a piece of furniture with its drawers from the year 1900

Encontramos todo tipo de cosas curiosas, pero lo más interesante es ver como era el paralelismo entre la clase obrera y la burguesa, los utensilios y las formas de vivir y pensar.
We saw all kinds of curious things, but the most interesting amongst all was finding out the parallelism between the bourgeois and the working classes, the utensils and the different ways of thinking and living.

You can see our new jewellery designs at the Daisy Market this next weekend, 24^th, 25^th and 26^th of September in Expocoruña, at A Coruña, Galicia.

Como decía aquel anuncio que tanto nos gusta " o te Mueves o Caducas" hace ya un tiempo que decidimos ir. La idea de estar rodeados de gente creativa con la misma vocación en cuanto a realizar diseños propios y sobrevivir en el intento, nos encanta.
As that advertisement we liked that much, one either moves or is out of date, we therefore decided to participate in this event, wich enables us to be surrounded with creative people with the same idea of making own designs and make a living out of it.

También es una feria donde van muchas tiendas y si deseas promocionarte es esencial ir a estos eventos un poquito más serios.

It is also an event with a high participation of shops, so if you want to promote yourself it is essential to participate in this kind of events.

Así que nos hemos preparado para la ocasión y aquí os dejamos el resultado de una tarde de trabajo , después de idear la estructura y realizar el encargo a unos muy buenos amigos y artistas de la madera , le dimos nuestro propio acabado en ese dorado característico en nuestros muebles .

So we have theredore prepared ourselves for the occasion and here you can see the result of an evening´s work. After devising and asking the structure to be done by some wood artists, good friends of ours, we finished the proyect by giving the expositor the characteristics golden touch our forniture has.

Para los interesados en la materia son poquitos pasos, una pintura base dorada o tapa poros , las primeras son muy elásticas y cubren muy bien la madera natural sin tener que utilizar la imprimación de tapa poros, las segundas pinturas a utilizar (todas sin mezcla de alcohol ), pinturas con mucho pigmento dorado y que sean al agua, luego a muñequilla se pueden variar tonos del dorado a tu gusto.

Con esto ya tenemos nuestro expositor!
For those interested, you need some light golden painting, flexible painting which covers wood quite well without needing to use any other materials and then some water paintings with golden pigments are required in order to get to the required colour, after a few coats of paint, the expositor is ready!

También se puede añadir betún de judea en las molduras de las patas ( en este caso las patas son roscadas para tener un expositor transportable) .
Some polish can also be added in the legs; in this case we have threaded legs in order to have a portable expositor

Lleva incorporado una bandeja a modo de extensión, y el cajón tiene dos posiciones para poder mostrar en distintos ambientes las piezas.
An extendable tray is also incorporated, and the drawer has got two positions in order to be able to show the jewels in different contexts.

¿Qué os parece , aquí se hace todo a mano ?... Por supuesto!

Siempre hay detalles curiosos y con mucha imaginación.

Este nuevo trabajo está basado en las cucharillas de helados de toda la vida y que mejor momento para disfrutarlo que este verano 2010 , Es un regalo a la carta, encargado por amigos con mucha inventiva.

Para empezar lo primero es fundir y tener la plata preparada, estirándola al grosor y anchura que necesitamos para la pieza.

There are really nice and imaginative details out there. This new work of us is based on those little ice cream spoons we all know and when best to enjoy than during this warm 2010 summer. It is a tailor made present, ordered by some very creative friends.

First, we need to melt and prepare the silver, stretching it in order to get the right thickness and width.

Una vez conseguido esto, trazamos la silueta de nuestra cucharilla de helado , y le vamos dando forma en plano

Once this is ready, we design the little ice cream spoon figure and we start giving shape to the silver

aquí está la primera parte de la cucharita !!

and here you can see the first part of the little spoon!!

Se lima y perfila hasta que la forma sea perfecta, en este caso necesitamos un poco de volumen para crear la cavidad profunda caracteristica de cualquier cuchara, esto se realiza con ayuda de martillo ,plomo y distintos utensilios.

Now, it needs to be shaped and filed until we get the right shape, in this case a bit of volume is needed in order to create the characteristic cavity this kind of spoons have, this is achieved with the help of a hammer, lead and some other tools.

y como va a ser un llavero pues nos ponemos manos a la obra con las piezas que nos faltan

And since this is going to be a key ring, we now need to start working on those extra pieces we need

Ahora ya tenemos todas las piezas que necesitamos, eso si todas bien lijaditas y preparadas para el último toque, el pulido

We now have all those pieces we need, all of them filed and ready for the final touch: polishing.

Como veis es un llavero de cuchara de postre, con un grabado por detrás que pone "PAL POSTRE 2010"

y una historia detrás como cualquier gran recuerdo .

As you can see, it is a key ring with a Little ice cream spoon and an engraving in the back which says “for dessert 2010” and a nice story behind as any great memory.

A short trip

Seguimos trabajando con la nueva colección, preparando la página de venta online y la feria que en el próximo mes de septiembre nos llevará a Galicia...

We keep working in our new collection, our new online sale web page and the fair which will take us in September to Galicia…

Pero siempre intentamos aprovechar cualquier excusa para descansar aunque sea una miniescapada a Barcelona por temas de trabajo, no dejamos de disfrutar de esos pequeños momentos de relax, en los que disfrutamos de todo, perdernos por esas callejuelas tan estrechitas...

But we always try to make the most of any excuse to rest, even if it’s only a short trip to Barcelona for work reasons, we can’t stop enjoying those small relax moments, when we can enjoy everything, get lost in those narrow little streets…

Proceso de fabricación

Hace un tiempo, nos pidieron diseñar unos pendientes especiales, para una ocasión muy especial, solo sabíamos que los pendientes iban a ser de oro blanco, así que comenzamos a trabajar.

Some time ago, we were told to design some special earrings, for a very special occasion; we just knew that the earrings were going to be made in white gold, so we started working.

Lo primero fue el diseño, al principio es un caos, pero con un poco de tiempo y trabajo va cogiendo forma.

Al final dimos con un resultado que encajaba perfectamente.

First thing, was design, which is chaos at the beginning, but with a bit of work and time we started giving shape to the earrings

Una vez decidido esto, lo siguiente es ¡empezar a trabajar en el taller!

Once the design was decided, we started working in the studio!

Ir preparando las pequeñas partes de cada pendiente, hasta que vaya cogiendo la forma deseada.

We had to prepare all the small parts of each earring, until we managed to get the right shape

Una vez tenemos todas las partes, empezamos a montar la pieza.

Once we had made all the small parts, we started to set the pieces.

Lo que teníamos muy claro es que queríamos que los pendientes tuviesen mucho movimiento

What we knew for sure is that we wanted the earrings to have a lot of movement

Como podéis ver todo todo está fabricado por nosotros, en nuestro taller, hasta las presiones para los pendientes

As you can see everything is made by us, in our studio, even the smallest details

y por ultimo y no por ello menos importante el pulido final para que el oro blanco tenga el brillo que deseamos

and last, but not least, the final polish so that we get the white gold as shiny as possible

After the storm comes the design…

Después de tantos días seguidos de lluvia, comprobando cada poco si no se inundaba toda la calle,..., vemos de nuevo el sol!

Levantarse cada mañana y al abrir la ventana ver esto

After so many rainy days, checking to see our whether our street was going to flood or not…it’s sunny again!

Waking up in the mornings, opening the windows and seeing this really inspire us and make us want to do more and more things!!

Jewellery restoration

Una de las cosas que nos encantan de nuestro trabajo, es cuando nos proponen retos bonitos,donde se trata de hacer una reconstrucción o restauración como esta , se trata de una sortija de oro amarillo con brillantes,
el brazo era muy finito, así que nos propusieron darle un cambio.

One of the things that we love about our job, is when we are proposed nice challenges, such as a restoration like this, the proposal was about a gold ring with diamonds. The ring arm was very thin, so we were suggested to change it and we started working

nos pusimos manos a la obra, lo primero,elegir el estilo del brazo, el número de piedras y el estilo del engastado , intentado que fuese acorde con la idea general.

First, we had to choose the arm style, the number of stones and the setting style, which we tried to choose according to the general idea.

y una vez realizado el nuevo brazo, buscar los brillantes del tamaño necesario para poder engastarlos,

Once the new arm was made, we had to look for the diamonds, with the right size for the setting.

Preparamos las herramientas que necesitamos y a engastar!

We prepared the tools needed and we started with the setting!

el proceso de engastado requiere mucha paciencia, ya que los brillantes tienen que quedar sujetos por el metal, ya preparado para que luzcan las piedras y queden todas a la misma altura....

The setting process requires quite a lot of patience, since diamonds need to be hold by the metal so the stones can look good and be at the same level

Este tipo de engastado pertenece al Estilo Isabelino XVII y XIX surgido en el reinado de Isabel II y que corresponde con el estilo victoriano Inglés, es una tecnica decorativa en la que se trata de embellecer las piedras con diferentes cortes para conseguir el efecto y la apariencia de piedras sujetas por garras

This type of setting belongs to the Isabelino style, centuries XVII and XIX, which emerged during the Elizabeth II reign and which corresponds to the English Victorian style, a decorative technique by which stones are embellished with different cuts that manage to get the effect of stones hold by claws.

Hoy queríamos aprovechar para enseñaros otro proceso de fabricación, esta vez lo que diseñamos fue un anillo de nácar, al que le grabamos ¡una carita!

Today we wanted to show you another making process, this time we have designed a mother-of-pearl ring, with a smiley face engraving!

El grabado lo hacemos a mano con buriles, y una vez conseguido el dibujo que queríamos, nos pusimos a trabajar con la plata para hacer el anillo

The engraving is handmade, once we managed to get the drawing we wanted, we started working with the silver

A photographs’ evening, a bit of Jöelle

Hace unos días se nos ocurrió hacer unas pruebas para una pequeña sesión de fotos, así que una tarde de sábado nos juntamos unos cuantos amigos y al final mezclando mil cosas que teníamos hicimos un montón de fotos ,esta es una pequeña muestra.

Some days ago we decided to try a small photographs session, so we met a few friends and we took a lot of pictures mixing things we had at home, this is just a small sample

lo pasamos muy bien, a todos se nos ocurrían un montón de ideas para los bodegones, nos probamos todas y cada una de las piezas...

We had a great time, we had loads of ideas for the pictures and we tried all jewellery pieces

La verdad que el resultado nos gusto mucho, además de pasar una tarde diferente y en buena compañía.

At the end, we really enjoyed the result and we had a different evening in good company as well

Y claro está que después de las pruebas nos toco merendar : té , galletas y gominolas!! jiji
seguimos mostrándoos cositas y más procesos de nuestro trabajo!

And of course we got to have our tea with cookies and sweets :)

We want our work to be different, which is why we take care of every single detail during the making process and why we try that every jewellery piece has some small detail which makes them personal, different and exclusive like you

En esta colección lo que las hace especiales es el grabado que llevan, nunca repetido, cada una lleva un grabado diferente hecho a mano.

Within this collection, what makes bracelets different is the engraving, which is never the same; every bracelet has a different one, hand made.

Las pulseras están hechas en plata con nuestra firma y contraste , el colgante lleva crisoprasa, una piedra que nos encanta tiene mucha vida y nada que envidiar a las esmeraldas , y que además queda preciosa con la piel un poco morenita!! que ganas de verano ...

The bracelets are silver made with our signature and hallmark, the pendant has a chrysoprase, a natural stone that we love, it has a lot of life and is as good as green emeralds, it also looks beautiful when you are tanned!! We are so much looking forward to the summer….

NOMADA SUPER MARKET

Este fin de semana pasado estuvimos en Madrid, participando en el Nomada Super Market,

una feria de nuevos diseñadores, donde contábamos con un espacio para poder enseñar los frutos de nuestro trabajo.

había de todo, ropa, complementos, ilustraciones...sobre todo mucha creatividad y muchas ganas de hacerse un hueco poco a poco en este mundillo del diseño independiente y de autor.

A los que no pudisteis acercaros por la feria os queríamos enseñar un poquito de nuestra participación, nuestro pequeño stand!!

This last weekend we were in Madrid, taking part in the Nomada Super Market, a new designer’s fair, where we had our own little space to show the result of our work.

Within the fair you could find clothes, accessories, illustrations...most of all a lot of creativity and enthusiasm to come into this independent design world

To those who couldn’t come round we want to show a bit of our contribution, our little stand!!

Lo mejor de todo fue la cantidad de gente que conocimos, tanto nuevos clientes como compañeros, sobre todo los compis que nos tocaron, un placer compartir tantas horas con vosotr@s!!

Muchísimas gracias a todos los que os acercasteis a vernos y a conocernos!!

Nos encanta poder mostraros los procesos, es lo bonito de este oficio poder mostrar algo que ha sido creado y moldeado con nuestras manos e ideas, sacado del fuego (a los de nuestro oficio se les llama sacadores de fuego) y realizado por nosotros.

We love to show you how we work…this is the nice thing about our job, being able to show something which has been conceived, modeled and finally created by ourselves.

No solemos repetir el mismo diseño a no ser que guste y sea pedido, ya que no nos cuesta crear nuevas cosas! somos entusiastas de nuestro trabajo.

Cada uno de los colgantes son diferentes y únicos!

y cada piedra nos ayuda a diseñar un colgante diferente con un caracter personal.

We don’t usually repeat our designs unless people like it and we have new orders, because we like creating new things! We really like our job.

Each one of the pendants is different and unique! And each gemstone helps us design a different jewel, with a different personality as well.

Por fin llego la primavera!!

Finally spring time!!

con este invierno tan frío que tuvimos teníamos unas ganas de que llegara...

With this cold winter we’ve had, we were really looking forward to the spring…

y claro está, que con la primavera, todo se llena de flores...y ..! nos encantan para crear motivos sencillos y curiosos en nuestras joyas!

And of course, during spring time, we are surrounded by flowers…we love to create simple and different motifs for our jewels!

Os iremos enseñando mas novedades para esta primavera y como nos movemos poco a poco en esta pequeña pero robusta empresita que va tomando forma .

Del 18 al 25 de marzo es casi imposible encontrar una habitación en Basilea, toda la ciudad está llena!, en esos días se celebra la feria que nos sumerge en un mundo de ensueño, en el mundo de la alta joyería.

From the 18th to the 25th of March is almost impossible to find a room in Basel, the whole city is full! Those days a really inspiring jewellery event takes place.

Un espacio donde las marcas de leyenda presentan sus novedades, con stands que compiten entre si en lujo, diseño y por supuesto originalidad.

A place where legendary firms show their novelties, with stands rivaling in luxury, design and of course originality.

Es la feria donde se presentan las nuevas tendencias en joyería y por supuesto relojería, una visita que creemos merece la pena hacer, por eso este año nos la estamos mas que planteando...

¡¡Hola!! Hemos estado desaparecidos unos días porque entre encargos, pagina web, nuevas colecciones y carnaval ¡¡no hemos podido parar ni un segundo!! Ser tu propia Empresa es autentico , solo falta que el día tenga muchas más horas para poder hacer todo más ágil.

Hello!! We have been missing for a few days because between works, orders, web page, new collections and carnival, we haven’t been able to stop for a second!! Being your own company is great; we just need the day to have much more hours.

Pero ya estamos otra vez por aquí y hoy os queríamos enseñar;¡otro proceso de fabricación! esta vez lo que nos encargaron fue una pinza para un chupete en plata

But here we are again, and today we would like to show you, another making process! This time we were asked to do a silver clip for a baby dummy

la verdad que nosotros disfrutamos un montón mientras lo fabricábamos por que son encargos muy personales !!

Truth is we really enjoyed making it because these are very personal orders!!

así que cuando llegaron mas pedidos nosotros encantados!!

So when we were asked to do more we were really pleased!!

además, cuando vemos al bebe con el ya es lo mejor del mundo, son los mejores modelos!
